Hello everybody! Before I start typing non-stop about the camp itself, let me just say some things that I think really is important because without these group of people, I doubt the camp will be as great as it had been.
This is the Camp Commandant (CC) for you. Mr Chao Jian whom worked really hard and sacrificed his sleep a whole load of times. Many might think that he has been just sitting around the campsite and making sure everybody do their job but no, his job is certainly not as easy as what we think.
When things go wrong, like the weather suddenly changed or when many keeps on pushing time limits, he is the one that has been thinking a lot throughout the camp to make a new plan for us to execute. And really, I think this camp somewhat makes him someone that I find easier to talk to. He has been there looking out on us, Student Leaders, and making sure that everyone is in good condition.
Thanks Chao Jian for the sacrifices you have made. He missed 2 breakfast/lunch because people kept on throwing away his food. So yea, hope you got yourself a better food *ehem*bread*ehem* after the camp ended. (:
This is Ms Beverley, our Deputy Camp Commandant (DCC). She was there when many of us could not take things anymore. It was all thanks to her that I did not need to take Sentosa and Vanda at one go since Evon was away. She was the reason everybody got super hyper.
She was also the person who kept us going strong when things fell apart. And yea, words just can't simply describe the person she has been, along with Chao Jian, throughout the entire camp.
Thanks to the CC and DCC, we did a great job well done! (:
These Sharks Student Leaders are loved too! (:
Everyone was there when there is a need for a shoulder to cry on and an ear to share the woes. I can say that we could actually bond really fast because all of us are, CRAZY. And you should certainly see how we behaved today in school. (:
And these group of people were the ones to ensure the safety, the discipline, the fun times and many more, of the Sec2s.
A job well done to the SLs! *Shows finger*
Teet teet tit tit tit tit tit, STUDENT LEADER! (:
And there is also a group of people and someone that has kept us going strong.
This was a chocolate given by Ms Lim Hui Qi. (: Since there is no picture of her, I guess this would be the best of it. So anyway, Ms Lim was there for me like all the time. Which I appreciate a whole load!
She will come to me when she have the time and ask if everything was okeh. And I have to thank God that I met someone as caring as she is.
"You have my number right? If there is anything that I could help you with, just give me a call okeh? *SMILES* "
And how many adults actually do that to me? None. Zero. Zilt. She's the first one and I'm glad that I got to know her. (:
Thanks Ms Lim for the encouraging words that you gave. Sure will remember those times when all you did was to give me a smile when I needed one. (:
And next is the Facilitators! Without them, I bet the whole camp will be half of the noise level we made. (: I guess this year's facis have a great big heart. They even bought for us coloured drinks one the first night and also papadum. Nice people.
Sorry, but no photos of them.
I have to thank Gen the most because she was just like Ms Lim. When all I need is a little smile to brighten my day, she was there to make sure everything was going well for Vanda. And I had a great pat on the back everytime she sees me in the canteen. Thanks a lot Gen! (:
There's also Chris. Yea, he did me one tiny thing but it means a whole load for me! It may appear something small but when you are down to your end, even helping to scold with just 4 words really help a lot! So yes, thanks alot Chris for the help! (:
Melvin! I certainly learnt alot from him. The fact that he cared for us SLs actually made me appreciate all the people around me throughout the entire camp a lot more. He was there giving us motivating words on how to control all the campers and how to make sure that we will have a fun time ourselves. Thanks Melvin for all the motivational talks and whatever important stuff that you did for us. (:
To the other Facis, you guys were great and thanks for the treat during the second night. You guys will be remembered always okeh? We ROCK! You DIAMOND!
Okeh, lols.
And it has been long. So now I must warn everybody, if you're not interested, do NOT read because it'll be long and boring. (:
Don't tell me I didn't warned you. The sweet did. (;
I did these at around 12am before I go to bed to report for Day0. These people, let's talk about them later. (:
(And these are the medics who went oh-so-crazy when we found out that we were lacking of peple to actually make sure that injuries are treated. *Pulls hair*)
(Mr Leonard was busy writing throughout the morning.)
Day 0. While waiting for the bus, we were all busy planning for our day and eating our breakfast. Last minute stuff and we were ready to go!
But of course, since the sunlight was super strong, these people seek protection. (:
So we *ehem*perasan*ehem* people, took advantage of it.
(For once in our life~)
So yes, we boarded the bus and started noisy-ing around! (: And guess who I sat next with? None other then the noisiest people. But it's okeh and it's alright, I had fun on the bus!
(This is Mr Bing Yi. From this picture, you can infer that the bus was seriously super packed with bags and humans. And you should thank Bing Yi because without him, there'll be no camp tee for the campers and no SL tee for us.)
(See what I meant by noisy?)
So anyway, once we reached the Labrador Campsite, we did HUMAN CHAIN! (:
Then after that, we got ourself busy by cleaning up everything. And we, Welfare Dept, had to do the bunkings and it was seriously so stressful. Other than making the campers sleep together, there's no choice. (:
Before going off for the recee thing, we had our first ever lunch for the year 2008 in LAC. (:
(:
So after walking and all we went back and played the games that started to bond us really well. We divided ourself into two groups. So for my group, we played 'Poison river' and we threw 3 shoes just to take the string which was at the middle. So we threw Chao Jian's and Leonard's. Heh!
We couldn't get all the female over except for Cynthia. And CJ got stuck for a minute or two during the start of the game. Heeh! (:
Okeh then we played with the wall where we had to climb up in order to complete. And guess what? I did it!! And I'm proud of all of the SLs because all could get up except for the fact that there were some hiccups. (:
And after that, we bath and get to sleep. Got rather excited the next day that when I sit at the bus, I kept on thinking what cheer I should teach them and all.
Vanda is the name. Being Sweet is the game! (:
*MSN sound* Right..
So after getting them settled at their bunks, we went to the MPH to have some fun!
This was a game where Vanda combined with Marshall. Thus, being as good as ever, Syahirah and I both screamed like one mad retard while our group were playing the games.
And they did their flags and Vanda's flag looked something like that. (: Nice right? Yusuf was the one decorating and a few girls helped him in colouring etc.
Actually, while I'm writing this, I'm keeping myself awake. Gosh, I'm like so bloody tired although I slept like a log since Saturday. Wooooops! :x
After lunch, which I sat eating with Evon and Kelvin, we went of for our activity. For my group, we went off to Asian Civilisations Museum.
Reflection:
For Vanda, personally, I think they did quite well considering the fact that they were there together for a few hours only. But, many were really not cooperative because they kept on disobeying my instructions. I doubt they even listened to the instructions I gave. They left their team mates behind and would not stop for each other even after I told them my current thoughts on that day. This day was actually one of my worse because they were not listening and coopearting. Many were just doing their own stuff.
This was one of the games they had to play, Chicken and Eagle.
(That's Kai Keat for you. He is one of my best campers because he has always been the one helping me managing the group during any activities.)
So when everything ended we reached the ending point and did our last task. (:
Note the flag! (:
So many were busy preparing their cheer.
(This is Marshall for you. LOL.)
So we went back to the campsite and blablabla~ I debriefed them and I must say, many did not take it seriously which gets me super pissed off. ):
And night time was rather well because we did the bombing game~ And thankfully, I didn't get any forfeit. Heh! (:
(That's Akira and Yusuf for you. HAHA!)
(This is Jocelyn and Sharon. And now, I bet you know what Akira and Yusuf have to do.)
(I wouldn't have been able to do those things. Ishk.)
On that night itself, us SLs had to sleep at approximately 3am because we had to count the students in the bunk and made sure that the 'Parade State' was correct. And after we finished counting at around 1.30 am, we had a reflection session with Mr Siva himself and it ended quite late. After bathing at around 2.30, we slept. It was certainly a tiring day. And I was so glad Day 1 was already over.
So day 2 went rather okeh. After our trip to Chinatown, SLs got ourself a short period of time to rest our eyes. Since something cropped up, we comforted the person instead of sleeping. (:
Reflection:
Chinatown trip. I must say that it was way better than yesterday's. After telling my dissapoinments to Vanda, they began to follow my instruction slowly but at some parts of time, all I could feel like doing was to break down in front of them and telling them that I have no more patience with them and that if they could not listen, then they should just go back to the campsite itself instead having the privilege to come to Chinatown.
Yes, it may be better than yesterday's but the camper's behaviour didn't go any better. One of my camper even said that I was a bad leader and that made me want to shout at her and ask her to lead Vanda herself. Mind you, I was leading Vanda alone with no help from any Faci.
We then had our lunch where Melvin shared more interesting tips with us. (:
Then we got down and dirty, we did telematch! Vanda won 2 of the games and that made me proud of them.
Reflection:
The team might have won twice but their attitude towards the game makes me want to go up to the Faci and ask them to just leave Vanda alone and not let them have a try on any of the game(s). If they were to think that getting things done is easy, they should be the ones giving out the commands instead of us. Tsk.
Campfire was okeh.
(Tee designed by Mr Bing Yi!)
So yes, Vanda got rather nervous. The whole team kept on questioning about my leadership quality while I was busy doing other stuff. Certainly very disheartened. ):
Last day was nothing much but area cleaning. Woke up at 6 again since we slept at 3 again. But this time, I guess sleeping that late was rather meaningful because I could learn more stuff from the Faci. And at least they care more then some people do. (:
So as one of the Welfare people, I took charge of Forefathers' Empire with Timothy.
And I really am dissapointed at how these little people, who knows nothing but to complain, disrespect me. I was giving instructions and they just talked among themselves. I was asking them a question and what did I hear? A conversation among themselves.
So look, why not you kiddies be us. Why not you take over and see how hurtful it seriously is when no one listens to what you are talking. So F, don't bitch around and saying how bad we people are as a leader or how bad we people planned the camp.
Why not give it a try?
As I was saying, the area cleaning was quite well done. But I bet they couldn't see properly because there were still bottles and plastics at the bunk areas. God. Don't this people have basic common sense?! Tsk.
And before we were given instruction to actually come down to the MPH before leaving for school, we Female ICs slacked at our bunk like as though it was our own room. (:
(This was the bed that I slept on so super soundly for 3 nights!)
(This was the fan that made me feel cold for 3 nights straight.)
Now that the camp is over, I am so glad that I don't have to face all these people and their shitass attitude.
Reflection:
Throughout these whole entire camp, I learnt how to start work well with the people around me. It doesn't matter where we come from and what we are and etc, what matters is the heart we have for that something that we share in common. The Facis were kind enough, especially Melvin, to actually help us about troubles we were facing with the campers.
Although there were some parts that did not go well, many agreed that the camp was a success because they saw/heard many had fun. May be true to some groups but may not be true for many. Why? Because being typical Singaporeans, these people are actually always complaining about the 'bad' stuff they had. They were never looking on the brighter side of the camp and thus making them the 'Camp saddist.'
- Social Awareness (Being aware on the reactions people give me when I execute a particular action.) - Self Awareness (Being aware on the words that I say and my actions; if they would affect others negatively or positively) - Responsible Decision Making (Make a decision, To give up? Or to stay strong?) - Self Management. (Manage my anger in front of the campers so that they won't have a bad impression on us.)
- We have confidence in Singapore's future. (Without confidence, everything will shatter into pieces no matter how deep you planned this something)
- Respect (Respect the decision of the Campers/Heads) - Resilience (Continue my effort although it might just fail anytime. Nobody will know when it'll fail, if I were to continue trying, it might just work out well even without me realising it.) - Responsibility (It's my responsibility to make sure that the Campers respect each other and also my responsibility to make sure everyone is in good health and spirit.)
So yes, it's over and I miss everything except, the Campers themselves. Gosh, I bet they are worse than us because even Natalie agrees that we had a harder time then they did. Urgh.
Sorry but I have to write this down.
Sec2s,
As a Senior, I must say that you guys have not been respecting us as how you should. Do you know how many broke down? We care for you. If we don't give a single shit about you, why do we have a medical post? Why do we ask you how you guys are feeling every now and then?
If we don't care, then we wouldn't plan a thing for your camp. We would just let it go on without any plan and that you guys won't have any fun. So which would you rather see? A planned and disciplined yet fun camp? Or an unplanned and undisciplined and unfun camp?
If you think it's really easy to plan a camp for 300+ students, by all means, I can help you tell any of the teacher IC and make sure you do. If you think being a leader is just by snapping your finger, then everything would have done easily and non of us would have been so stressed about you people.
If you had appreciated what we did for you with all your heart and soul, I bet it has been a wonderful 3D2N for you. And a big congratulations for that.
If you hadn't appreciate any of our effort at all, by all means, try doing it.

The whole Sec 3 cohort have left for OBS. Gosh, I miss ShiHui and Farah and Hazirah and Amirah. I wonder what they're doing right now. Hmm.
I know they won't read this right now, but I wish them good health for the next 5D4N. (:
And I certainly had fun with the other SLs today. We practically cheered thorughout the entire school hours. Heh! Then during the debriefing, we had a celebration with Canadian and Muffin~ Thanks a load especially Ms Lim. (:
So everybody, I look forward to PE tomorrow. And there's AMaths test tomorrow. Damn.
Toodles.
